The Sight Of Stars ŠAlan Ayers

Lying in her bed long after dark Dreaming when she should have been asleep Starlight dancing on the ceiling Morphing shapes of memories to keep Wishing for a Cinderella future As young girls are wont to do Hoping it includes the cute boy next door And a sweet little baby or two Seeing the struggle of her parents Working hard just to make ends meet Too many bills and too many children Yielding to a life of defeat Watching a shooting star disappear Making hopeless wishes, it seems Clutching all the delicious reverie In a stargazer's heart of dreams As slumber embarks, her head is filled With sundry wishes, dreams and plans Smiling as she falls asleep Placing her future in God's loving hands Kathleen McCoy Eldridge© April 1, 2009 All Rights Reserved
