Growing up on a farm wasn't much fun It was usually dark before the work got done We had no money and toys were few There was always work to do Daddy worked hard, for little pay I said to myself there's got to a be a better way When I grew up I wanted my family to know I'll never forget where I came from a long time ago I've made a lot of money as some of you know Made it the hard way driving a truck, hauling coal I'm growing older, but I'm doing okay If my dad were alive what would he say Sometimes I think back and I know I'll never forget where I came from a long time ago We lived in a house, without any heat Lot of days, we had little to eat When I remember, the time we were poor I appreciate my life, a whole lot more And it made a better man out of me And I'll never forget where I came from, a long time ago ©James Sanders Used With Permission All Rights Reserved By Author Mail
