You're invited to an afternoon tea
On Thursday beginning at three
We will serve on the south veranda
I await your R.S.V.P.
Only the elite will be attending
This formal black tie event
Tea and savories will be abundant
On heirloom china elegant
Silver place cards will be waiting
And each table will be set for four
The seating chart has been well planned
So please remember to look for yours
The first tea of the social season
Will be graced by a string quartet
Dainty cakes will be served in the garden
To the people of the upper class set
Please be prompt, for after three
We will not be accepting calls
During this summer afternoon occasion
For my sister and all our dolls
