I like to sort through my old pictures
It's good to see how we looked back then
Sometimes I wonder just how it would feel
To live those days all over again
The years just keep on flying by
As my body gets older and weak
But in my heart I'm young and strong
And memories of those times I seek
Playing tag and hopscotch, jumping rope
And swinging in an old tire swing
Floating higher and higher over the creek
Never worrying about anything
The whole family gathered around the table
To eat a meal all prepared from scratch
Cooked and baked in an old coal stove
Foods that microwaves just can't match
Holidays were always special events
We loved it when family came to call
The adults all talked about "their" old times
And the kids loved to listen to it all
It's nice to remember those long ago times
But I wouldn't relive them if I could
The past is in my heart where it belongs
So I'll just pass on that second childhood
