The piano bench hadn't been opened Since before Grandma passed away The only one with musical talent We always loved to hear her play She had a huge assortment of music And loved each one, as I recall From classical to jazz to rock and roll Our Grandma played them all Leafing through the different sheet music Many were dog-eared and yellowed with age There was so much history in that old bench With Grandma's heart prints on every page "Love's Old Sweet Song" was her favorite An old one from their courting days She and Grandpa referred to it as their song It became theirs in so many ways Grandpa is so lost without her Says he'll be joining her before too long I hope that when they meet again She'll be playing "Love's Old Sweet Song" Kathleen McCoy Eldridge© June 21, 2007 All Rights Reserved
