"Written for and Lovingly Dedicated to William McCoy"
Supper's over; milkin's done
Ever'body at the house is well
Reckon I'll go down to the garden
Amongst the corn and set a spell
The gentle rustlin' of the leaves
Shore helps me do my thinkin'
I'm praisin' God for another day
As the golden sun is sinkin'
He always comes to set with me
In this secluded ol' corn field
Gives me a good harvest ever' year
'Cause by his stripes, I'm healed
The Lord has been so good to me
And I've done my level best
Gave me a fine wife and a family
And for that, I am truly blessed
I've always tried to teach my youngins
The difference 'tween right and wrong
And bring them up like in God's Word
In the church where they belong
My days on Earth are fadin'
But one o' these days, I know
I'll be settin' in another peaceful place
Just a watchin' the garden grow
