In My Dreams
Remembering my childhood
And its happy-go-lucky air
Sunny, sweet and worry free
Living then without a care
Playing with joyous revelry
Always someone to allay my fears
When in my future, just ahead
Lay the toil of coming years
Fulfilling all my hopes and plans
Wasn't as easy as I'd contrived
Life has thrown so many curves
And, with faith, I have survived
Sometimes, I feel a yearning
To return to that neighborhood
And relive those happy, innocent years
But I wouldn't, if I could
Entering my twilight years
Is really not as bad as it seems
Yet, sometimes, I'm a girl again
But only in my dreams
