Cherished Moments
I took a stroll down memory lane
To our secluded hideaway
Where you put a flower in my hair
Then picked a huge bouquet
Thinking of our time together
Recalling your sweet embrace
My eyes cannot hold back the tears
As I wander through our place
I see the beauty of the woods
As I walk through yesteryear
Roaming along the creek bank
I feel your presence near
Reflections of so long ago
Still tiptoe through my mind
You carved our initials in a tree
Two hearts forever entwined
Holding hands to wade the creek
Picnics on a grassy mound
Watching the daylight slowly fade
Sounds of nature all around
We didn’t know our time was short
So abruptly, you were taken
I’m just a shadow of my former self
Heartbroken and forsaken
Now I come here all alone
Surveying the wondrous view
All the while remembering
The joyous years with you
Days come and go without you
But your spirit lingers still
You will always be a part of me
My lonely hours to fill
