A Breath Of Spring I went outside to greet the day And what do you think I saw? Birds and flowers everywhere And a jogger in the raw Covering my eyes with both my hands I couldn't help but sneak a look I didn't know who the old gal was But she must have been a schnook The old lady showed a lot of moxey And a style somewhat unique She coulda been a contender, I guess If she hadn't been an antique Shuddering at that pitiful sight I suddenly started to sneeze Pollen had fallen most everywhere And was wafting in the breeze The car, the lawn and the old well box With golden pollen were covered I ran toward the old porch swing Where, like a child, I hovered Sneezing and minding my business My butt felt a frightful pain A bumble bee was flying away As I watched with total disdain Rubbing my sting and sneezing still Heavy rain then started to pour After stumbling over the welcome mat I finally made it through the door That sure was quite an experience Bad luck I seemed to bring All because I ventured outside To catch a little breath of spring Kathleen McCoy Eldridge© April 26,2006 All Rights Reserved
