"Do nothing from rivalry or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves." (Philippians 2:3)

I work at trying to do my job and my giving without expectation of praise or reward. The reason I try not to seek rewards or praises is because God says it's vain glory and displeases Him. Now, don't get me wrong… I love to receive them (just like everyone else) but I try not to seek them.

People are often prone to think, "I'm not appreciated for all my hard work so I'm going to stop;" or "this person hasn't thanked me for what I did so I'll not give to him again." Some people have a tendency to remind others of all their good deeds, but when they do this, they've just received their reward and lost their heavenly reward. What a sad testimony of their faith!

When I seriously consider it… where do I really want my reward for doing good - here on earth or in heaven? How I truly feel about this question shows how faithful I am to do my work and giving "as unto the Lord."

So let's put away vain glory and self-centered thinking. In everything we do we should seek God's praise and not the praise of others. I know it's hard to do, but in due time we shall reap our rewards -from the One who matters most. Amen?
