We grew up learning to love each other
Even though we looked different
New people we call dad or mother
To all four of us, the world it meant
We may have separate DNA
Different parents too
Each coming from a different way
Yet all of us knew,
Although they may not come from blood
They always have been there
Wiping our faces from the mud
Or just brushing our hair
Wiping our tears when we cried
Or putting us in a dress
Loving us even when we lied
And cleaning up our mess
Yes, they are not our real mom and dad
But that doesn't mean a thing
They loved us through the good and bad
And gave us our true wings
