Where has the Spirit of Christmas gone?
Where did the Nativity go? For some,
the true meaning of Christmas is alive
and well, within the hearts of those
devoted to prayer but for others,
it left religion's door, replaced by
material things and high technology,
as neighbors compete to own
high-priced gadgets with others.
Remember the time of centuries old,
the time of Winter Solstice?
Remember Celtic traditions
and Pagan celebrations,
the simple ways to decorate
with holly, yule logs and mistletoe,
remember?
Where have the simple traditions gone?
Where did the old world go? For some,
the true meaning of Christmas is alive and well,
within the minds of those
devoted to simpler times, but for others,
it has left to be replaced by fancy lights,
and high electricity bills, over-charged credit,
depression and money woes.
Appreciated is the thought of Christmas,
through the joys of handmade and homespun,
through charity, giving with an open heart,
guidance, humanity
and the saving grace of God's blessings
with peace and unconditional love.
