My Friend is always near me
In the thick and in the thin
And His words so often cheer me
When I take it on the chin

 

He brings hope and joy and courage
As I listen to His voice
And my heart He does encourage
As He helps me make the choice

 

The choice makes all the difference
It involves my attitude
There's a peace and sweet deliverance
As I show my gratitude

 

I find Him so delightful
He's approachable each day
And His wisdom's so insightful
As we walk the narrow way

 

He reminds me of the reason
Why He placed me on this earth
That in every single season
I would share what He is worth

 

For my Friend left all to save me
When He died upon the cross
And a wondrous gift He gave me
When He suffered pain and loss

 

In this world's most darkest hour
He defeated death and sin
And because He rose in power
I'm not where I should have been

 

Today He walks beside me
And He fills my heart with Love
And His Spirit dwells inside me
Bringing insights from above 

 

I am thankful for the Joy He shares
I marvel at His Grace
He reaches out and always cares
He's building me a place

 

And someday when my eyes grow dim
From this old world I'll flee
And I will go and live with Him
For all eternity
