On January 31st, 1957, Parliament proclaimed a Day of Thanksgiving to Almighty God for the bountiful harvest with which Canada has been blessed.....

In Canada, Thanksgiving is celebrated in October. I read once that the harvest season falls earlier in Canada compared to the United States due to the simple fact that Canada is further north. We give God thanks for a successful harvest. We thank Him for the many blessings He sends our way. At this time of thanksgiving we pause to count our blessings.

Let us show gratitude to God for all that He provides for us from day to day. Just as the seasons change we too change with each passing day it brings us closer to home. We thank Him for each new day, for food, clothing, health and strength, for the sun that shines in the morning and the moon that shines at night. We give Him thanks for tears and joy. We thank Him for our life.

May our lives carve the light of Jesus into the hearts of others. Wishing you and yours a Happy Thanksgiving Day.
